Welcome back to my monthly feature; Ben Tries- where I try 5 products in one category. Today is Face Masks which I feel we all use and like.
I have not gone pricey with all of my masks being under £10- I am sure there are some lovely ones that are lots of money, my sister swears by the Charlotte Tilbury Goddess skin clay mask but at a whopping £38 I am not going to even bother. However Rachel loves that one so if you feel like trusting an entire stranger then knock yourself out !!!
Onto the testing my dears…
Lush Rosy Cheeks | £7.25
Soothes, softens and removes redness from the skin, with added cleansing too. Made from a simple blend of kaolin, calamine and Turkish rose oil, it is nice and soft to wear. The scent is pleasant it is not knock you over rose, it’s subtle and calming.
It left my skin feeling really soft and balanced, with a subtle sheen that made me look healthier.
(on a side note this mask uses fresh ingredients and must therefore must be kept in the fridge)
One question I will ask of all these masks is would you want to answer the door in this mask ?? - It makes you look pale, so its okay !!

L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask | £7.99
A powerful blend of 3 pure clays- Koalin, Montmorillonite, Ghassoul- combined with charcoal. Now I am not going to pretend I know what these are known for or indeed do. However, the box states that the clays combined with the charcoal acts as a magnet to draw out impurities and sebum- yum !! This tightens on the skin and drys.
Again this made my skin feel softer, but not as soft as the Rosy cheek mask. It did leave a slight residue and I felt that I needed to cleanse afterwards which I am not so keen on doing twice. I will also say that it made my beard area tingle but this could have been irritation I already had. Really nice scent afterwards though- fresh !!
Would you want to answer the door in this mask?? - It is very dark so you would get funny Looks !!

Superdrug Dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask | 99p
This mask is in a handy one use packet. Superdrug tell you that Witch Hazel and Willow Bark Extract will help deeply cleanse pores and the Dead Sea Minerals will help draw out dirt and impurities. It smells fresh and is a fun minty colour.
On my skin it dried quickly and went flaky and ended up making quite a mess. It also warmed my skin up a lot which could be soothing for some but this was not for me. It did however leave my skin feeling very clean.
Would You want to answer the door in this mask ?? - you just look green, own it !!

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Charcoal Face Mask | £3.99
I have used this mask before and was even in a favourites way back in August. So 9 months on let’s see what this mask does for me now. This mask uses charcoal like the L’oreal mask but instead of clay, combines it with Tea Tree & Witch Hazel. This mask aims to calm and clear your skin. This goes on in similar way, drying and tightening.
On my skin it dried quickly and went flaky in some places, not as messy as the Superdrug mask. I’m just not sure what it did, overall it just left my skin a little red- this was probably due to how much I had to rub to get it off. Not that keen on this mask.
(Also this is quite messy in the sink so just be mindful of that fact)
Would you want to answer the door in this mask ?? - It is sooo dark, so unless it was my ASOS order I would hide !!

Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask | £2.99
Hasn’t the world moved on, with tissue masks being all the rage. I have read and seen glowing reviews of this mask especially by Estee Lalondé. Shall we see what Garner say ?? Well they say the mask is super-hydrating and revitalising especially for dehydrated skin. Rehydrates skin, reduces the look of fine lines, and revives radiance. Enriched with pomegranate extract, hyaluronic acid, and plant serum. Lots of science there !!
Okay so it is not the easiest to apply or maybe my face is an odd shape, but it went on weirdly. However once on and stuck on it felt cool and lovely- I had kept it its the fridge prior to applying to it my face. It stayed on okay (in the past I have done sheet masks and they have slipped off). It had to be on for 15 minutes so was really soothing and relaxing, and after peeling it off my skin felt rejuvenated and fresh- I just had to rub in the excess serum from the mask which feels sticky. This sticky-ness soon wears off and you are left with bright hydrated skin !!
Would you want to answer the door in this mask ?? - Honey quite honestly I looked terrifying so thats a big NO !!

The Results
So there you have it, 5 masks tried and tested. So lets discuss the order. Coming in last place is the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Charcoal Face Mask, this is followed by the Superdrug Dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask. Next is the L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask. Finally joint top is the Lush Rosy Cheeks and Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask for similar and different reasons. I liked how they both left my skin feeling soft. Rosy cheeks soothed my skin where as the Garner tissue mask really hydrated it. So a combination of the two are perfect additions into my skin care routine.
Thank you for joining me on my journey into the world of skin masks, let me know what mask you have tried and if you have any recommendations !! I will see you on Friday with a brand new post !!!!
