Familiar Favourites

I can’t think of the last time when I sat down and just talked about the clothes on my back. I first started this website a million years ago, looking back, the fashion element was almost the elephant in the room - it wasn’t visible!

However, I think things have very much changed and in the last few years, I have used the brilliant potential that lies in silly little outfits to bring content to you every week. Now sometimes styling myself is the easiest thing ever, and sometimes it can be trickier, and I want to take a moment to talk about that.

In my line of work, I am as far removed from uniform as anyone can be. But sometimes even I could be wooed by the sartorial simpleness that a uniform can provide. If you look at any established figures within the fashion industry you will see consistency as a cornerstone of their outward appearance.

When I feel a little creatively drained, I do tend to fall back on the familiar, easy looks I can pull when I need them. This outfit today is probably one of the best examples of that. Three easy separates that cover my whole body, giving me no incidental admin like tights/hair removal/ being cold etc.

I am a creature of habit, and so I do like to have multiples of the same thing or similar items so that I can replay winning formulas. I have this skirt in three colour ways, I have countless statement sweaters, and it's best not to try and count how many pairs of boots I have.

This is as close as I can get to a uniform for the moments when I may not have the capacity to pull a fresh look from my racks. I am grateful that of the pieces I can pull from, none of them screams simple, plain or even basic - so whatever does end up on my limbs always tends to sit well within my brand of silly outfits.

So even the most colourful, fashion-focused beings have cheat days, and this is what that looks like for me! What are your familiar favourites when it comes to dressing??
